XYZ Table Z Axis Laser + Camera Configuration

The idea was to make a prototype for testing a laser beam + manipulators, which will be mounted on XYZ standard moving system. In addition to the laser, a camera was mounted on the same platform as the laser in order to track whatever the laser marks. A control unit should also be mounted on the same platform.

The target was to place all the units in a way that will minimize the space of the platform (Base), as it should be rigid and made out of aluminum weight became a constrain as the Z axis had a weight limit. The material for the base platen as well as the camera mounting plate was chosen to be aluminum 6061 CNC manufactured in China at our supplier, covers and cable guides were 3D printed, the cover from ABS like material + painted in black with threaded inserts and the cable guides from PLA printed in-house. The controller was mounted at the back of the base plate and at the front all the accessories were covered for protection and an aesthetic look. The lower parts of the cover have openings in order to allow laser beam and camera lens an appropriate view of the marked surface.

Hope you all doing well, I would like to share with you a development activity we performed for one of our clients. The client is a start up in the field of Ultrasound scans, and we worked hand in hand in order to deliver the main trolley as well as the peripheral equipment which I will share in the next posts.
For this time we will show the device that contain one probe and a cable that connects within a trolley the design intend was usability and convenient operation of the product with one hand as well as manufacturability in mass production (Injection molding).
First we did a 3D print trial in-house, the results were successful and we were able to order the parts from our supplier in China. The parts were printed from ABS-like material, painted black.
Two weeks later our client received the parts for trials.

I was required to design a hand held barcode reader, the electronic device and the attached PCB were chosen according to the specification of the client and the outer shell was designed according to customer requirement, manufacturability (injection molding), and usability.

This time,

I would like to share with you a production activity we performed for one of our clients.

The client requested to manufacture a set of already designed jigs, for a trade show, the requirements were, transparency, Polycarbonate like material, and the best possible quality as it was untended to be part of the presentation during a trade show.

Two options were considered, 3D printed parts that can be brought to a transparency of glass like material as well as PC CNC machining.

For both options quotes were received at the same day from our suppliers in China. As the costs were similar at both cases the CNC process was chosen as it will result in more durable parts. Two weeks later they were at our client facility and after another two weeks they were at the trade show.
